Swedish metal band Ghost has a remedy for concert-goers sick of staring at other fans’ smartphones.
The band recently announced a world tour in April 2025, and fans looking to buy tickets should read the fine print at the bottom. This tour will be a “phone-free experience,” where fans must put their devices into a Yondr pouch upon entering the venue. Don’t worry; the pouches unlock within the designated phone zones if you have an emergency.
“This show will be a phone-free experience. Phones will be secured in Yondr pouches. Guests maintain possession of their phones at all times.”
Musicians like Jack White, Alicia Keys, and comedians Dave Chappelle and Jerrod Carmichael have used Yondr pouches at their shows to encourage people to live in the moment.
This will not be the first time Ghost has gone phone-free. During the band’s Sept. 11 and 12 shows last year at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, they instituted the same policy because the concerts were filmed for their Rite Here Rite Now. Lead singer Papa Emeritus IV expressed how happy he was with the process in an interview with Rock Sound:
“I have never seen a crowd interact the way that they did since I was in a club band. They were the best shows I’ve ever done with Ghost, just because I didn’t have to see those f—ing mobile phones.”
